How to care for Nubuck leather

Nubuck leather has a soft, finely buffed surface that benefits from gentle, regular care. Its distinctive nap can naturally change direction with handling, so light brushing is often all that is needed to keep the surface looking even and feeling soft.

Everyday care Remove dust and light surface dirt with a clean nubuck or suede brush, using gentle strokes to lift the nap. For small marks, a specialist nubuck cleaning block or eraser can be used carefully on the affected area.

If the leather becomes wet Blot away excess moisture with a clean, absorbent cloth without rubbing. Allow the leather to dry naturally at room temperature, away from radiators, hairdryers and direct heat. Once completely dry, gently brush the surface to restore the nap.

Protection A protector specifically designed for nubuck or suede can help reduce the risk of moisture and staining. Apply sparingly and always test on a discreet area first, as treatments may slightly alter the colour or appearance.

What to avoid Avoid soaking the leather, aggressive rubbing, alcohol wipes, household cleaners and harsh chemicals. Do not use conventional leather creams, waxes, oils or polishes, as these can darken the leather and flatten its characteristic velvety nap.
